What was the influence behind the creation of your blog?
Blogs give me a way to fuse writing and fashion together and allow me to be as creative as I want. I've also constantly got thousands of ideas with nowhere to put them! The inspiration behind the name east47thstreet came from the address of Andy Warhol's factory in the Edie Sedgwick days - in my mind it's the epitome of creativity.

Where do you source your inspiration?
Style icons, runway shows, trend predictions, witty writing, my wishlists and a glimpse into my life as a stylist, writer and ordinary 23-year-old.

How would you describe your style?
One day I'll be in all black wearing a crucifix and smoky eyes, the next I'll be in a floral skirt and pink fluffy jumper and the next I'll be all indie in plaid and docs...

What's your most loved wardrobe item?
My black MOSCHINO belt in big gold metal letters that I picked up for 50c!

What trends do you foresee for the upcoming spring/summer season?
I'll be in clogs, pastels, early 90's floral and denim, cute little tees and lots of headwear.

What are your favourite blogs?
Fashion Toast, WhoWhatWear, Olsens Anonymous, The Sartorialist, 4th and Bleeker and BleachBlack.

What are your 5 must have pieces at the moment?
Tony Bianco Dodge boot, socks, chunky silver rings, floor length knit cardi’s and pale pink lipstick.

Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?
Mary-kate Olsen and my glamorous grandma with her collection of beads.

Three words to describe yourself?
creative, happy, worrywart.

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
On my way to owning a giant vintage store, writing freelance for magazines and running my hugely famous blog.

dreaming of nightmares

Tim Burton captured the hearts of New Yorkers when his exhibition first appeared at the Museum of Modern Art late last year. Luckily for us, it's made its way down to Melbourne.

We waited in line at the cinemas to see his latest on-screen masterpiece, Alice in Wonderland. Now we're waiting with bated breath to view his extraordinary exhibition at ACMI at Federation Square. Burton’s inspiration takes a step further from childlike drawings. His ability to create a new genre of film from popular culture is truly genius.

The exhibition holds 700 of his works from paintings to puppets. You simply shouldn't miss...

ACMI, Federation Square, 24 June to 10 October 2010.

doe, a deer, a female deer

Stephanie Northwood-Blythe aka BAMBI, is one of Australia’s newest exports into the fashion world. The adorable 19-year-old is turning heads with her untamed wild brows. Whether walking for the likes of Arnsdorf, Ksubi and Ellery at the recent Sydney Rosemount Fashion Week or posing for cobra snake photographer Mark Hunter, this girl is one to watch.
